Sterling silver and stones jewelry designer since 1988, I decided in 2006 to bring my professional life in harmony with my personal life and apply the ecological principles that I've always defended. My background in the fashion industry goes back to my youth where I studied sewing techniques in France and graduated from the Los Angeles Fashion Institute. I then decided to start creating another kind of fashion respectful of the environment - the ethical fashion - . My creations, my ideas and my personal know how are here to bring a new sight of the "responsible" consumption which is a thoughtful and participative act. I work in a poetic universe where a new art of living is born centered on originality, respect of oneself, others and nature.
What is ethical fashion? - It is a fashion that makes sense environmentally and socially because it gives a greater place to human relations and the original know-how, it brings a fair quality-price ratio and it only uses natural untreated materials or environmentally friendly products such as reclaimed or recycled materials.
The raw materials I use are generously provided by the Red Cross near my house -which gives the whole project a local advantage- they are sorted out of the waste bins, then they are machine or hand washed, hung to dry, then classified by color. Thus avoiding usual waste practices like landfills or incineration. From this consumer society's waste, unique pieces of wearable art are born, multi-functional and iconoclastic; jewelry, bags of all kinds, waistbands with pockets, scarves, mittens, neckwarmers...
Now I bet you're eager to see them, so go and browse through my collection on line. I hope you'll like them? Be aware that in buying my creations, you're giving our planet a second chance, it needs it so badly! So for its sake don't hesitate!...
The earth is thanking you and so do I!. Sustainably yours, Kara |
